Primer GF FERROCOLOR
shipboard
The GF FERROCOLOR ship primer is designed for painting metal and wooden surfaces
under coatings with various enamels used in the aquatic environment.

Technological properties of the ship's primer GF FERROCOLOR

  • Drying time
at a temperature of (20±5)°C and relative humidity (65±5)% to the degree of 3 (for peeling) - no more than 8 hours, complete drying - no more than 24 hours,
at a temperature of (105 ± 5)°With complete drying no more than 35 minutes.
  • Temperature of application, application
it is recommended to apply the primer at a temperature from +5 ° C to +35 ° C and a relative humidity of no more than 85%,
the temperature range of operation of finished products from -45 ° C to +60 ° C.
  • Application conditions
The primer is intended for painting metal and wooden surfaces
under coatings with various enamels. The surface to be painted must be treated with a sandpaper. The metal surface must be degreased with any volatile solvent. When applying the primer over the old coating, the latter should be sanded and washed with a solvent. Loosely held paintwork should be completely removed.
  • Expenditure
at least 60-100 g/m2 is used per layer,
1 kg of GF021 primer is used for processing up to 16 m2 of surface,
the consumption depends on the level of surface preparation, as well as the method of applying the primer.
  • Shelf life, storage conditions
the warranty period is 6 months from the date of manufacture. The primer should be stored packed in
    closed warehouses at ambient temperatures from -40 °C to + 40 ° C.
  • Conditional viscosity
    according to the VZ-246 type viscometer with a nozzle diameter of 4 mm, at a temperature of (20.0 ± 0.5) °S - at least 45 s .
  • Degree of dilution
    no more than 20%.
  • Degree of grinding
    no more than 40 microns.
  • Mass fraction of non-volatile substances
    at least 54%.
  • Coating hardness
according to a pendulum device of the type TML I (pendulum A) - at least 0.15 relative units.
  • Elasticity of the film during bending
    not more than 1 mm.
  • Impact strength of the coating
according to the device type U-1 - at least 50 cm.
  • Adhesion
    1 point.
  • Film durability
to the static effect of water - at least 96 hours,
to the static effect of mineral oil - at least 48 hours,
to the static effect of gasoline and solvents - at least 1 hour,
to the static effect of salt solutions (3% sodium chloride solution) - at least 72 hours.

    Scope of application

    • For painting metal and wooden surfaces under coatings with various enamels
The primer is intended for painting metal and wooden surfaces under coatings with various enamels. For use in aquatic environments.

    Method of application

    • The ship's GF FERROCOLOR primer can be applied by spray, brush, roller
The work must be carried out in ventilated areas using personal protective equipment for the skin, respiratory organs, eyes and face.

The preparation of the working composition consists in thorough mixing. If necessary, it is allowed to add a solvent (P4, xylene or white spirit) in an amount of no more than 20%. The working composition not used during the shift should be filled with a small amount of solvent and tightly closed with a factory lid to prevent moisture ingress, gel formation and increased viscosity during storage.

The material can be applied at an air temperature from +5 °C to +35 °C and a relative humidity of up to 85%. It is not allowed to be applied on a wet or wet surface. The material should be applied in a uniform layer with a thickness of 30 to 80 microns, depending on the coating system used. The material is applied in 1-2 layers. The holding time before applying the second layer at a temperature of (20 ± 5) ° C should be at least 8 hours, but not more than 2 days. The thickness of a single–layer coating (on a dry layer) is no more than 30 microns. Approximate consumption rates per layer: from 80 g/m2.
